New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is often brutally honest when discussing things with the media. That was certainly the case this week.
The Super Bowl-winning head coach gave his opinion on Jacksonville Jaguars rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
“I think he’s gotten more comfortable as the season’s gone on and gotten comfortable with the offense,” Belichick told reporters. “I’d say the offense has probably gotten comfortable with the things he does best. Definitely, a good level of execution there. They did a good job last week against the Jets, mixing in different varieties of passes, quick throws, moving pocket throws, deep balls, third down conversions, red area plays. He’s pretty good at all of them and continues to get better. So I think he’s had a good year and I think he’ll be a solid NFL player. Maybe great, I don’t know, but he’s certainly made a lot of progress this year.”
Of course, it would be pretty disappointing for Jacksonville if Lawrence only becomes a “solid” NFL player.

Some NFL fans are in agreement with Belichick, though.
“I never thought Trevor was great as everyone thought, he was too over hyped and propped,” one fan tweeted.
Of course, others think Belichick is just setting up Lawrence to get crushed this week.
“Trope Alert! Bill Belichick praises rookie quarterback X just before destroying him, possibly making him see dead people,” another fan added.
It will be fun to see Lawrence going against Belichick and the Patriots on Sunday.
Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. E.T.
