After Monday’s trade, tight end Jonnu Smith is reportedly headed back south.

According to Ian Rapoport, the Patriots are trading the 27-year-old tight end to the Falcons, creating cap space for New England.

The NFL world reacted to the trade on social media.

“Jonnu Smith and Kyle Pitts with Drake London gives whomever is throwing them the ball some options,” replied Steve Wyche. “Smith flourished in Tennessee with Arthur Smith, now his HC in Atlanta. His presence could also help clarify better usage for Pitts.”

“Arthur Smith and reuniting with players who were on the [Titans] half a decade ago,” a user said.

“Big ticket free agent traded for a 7th rounder. Good lesson for those wanting big FA signings..” tweeted Andrew Brandt.

“Oh yeah baby! Holy smokes I love this,” another said. “Arthur Smith & the Falcons gets an old friend back to pair with Kyle Pitts and supplement Pitts coming off the injury. Meanwhile Bill Belichick and the Patriots get to rinse one of the worst deals they’ve ever handed out. Happy for Jonnu.”

“Arthur Smith gets the guy that folks expected Kyle Pitts’ role to be molded after, now he’s got two hyper-athletic tight ends,” commented Ross Jackson.

Plenty to work with in ATL.
