NFL World Reacts To Surprising Patriots Meeting

The New England Patriots are known for taking gambles on Draft Day, but that doesn’t make one player meeting they recently had any less surprising.

Speaking to the media on Friday, Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson revealed that he’s met with the Patriots and had a productive meeting with them to boot.

“I feel like that was another great interview for me as well,” Richardson said when discussing the Patriots, per NESN’s Dakota Randall.

Richardson is widely seen as a first-round pick who could wind up being the third or fourth quarterback taken in the draft. The Patriots just so happen to be picking 14th overall.

Though whether the Patriots would use that 14th pick on a second quarterback in three years is a different matter altogether.

Anthony Richardson is a somewhat polarizing prospect who has the physical tools to be a star quarterback. He claims to be a mix of the best aspects of Cam Newton and Lamar Jackson – a bold statement to be sure.

There are reasonable concerns that Richardson’s playing style won’t translate well to the NFL unless he totally revamps his mechanics.

But nobody’s going to recommend he change positions after all of the scouts who recommended Lamar Jackson change positions wound up with egg on their face.

However if there’s one team that could have a player change positions and become a superstar in the role, it’s the Patriots.
