NFL fans aren’t very happy with the fine news announced for New England Patriots rookie quarterback Mac Jones on Saturday.
The Patriots’ first-year quarterback was not fined for his questionable play on a Carolina Panthers defender last weekend.
Jones was called out by the Panthers for an alleged “dirty” leg twist of Panthers defensive lineman Brian Burns. The Patriots quarterback wasn’t penalized for the play, though Carolina’s sideline clearly believes he should’ve been.
“I thought it was completely dirty. Hopefully it’s something the league addresses,” Panthers linebacker Haason Reddick said, via Joseph Person of The Athletic.
On Saturday, the NFL ruled that Jones will not be fined.
Patriots’ QB Mac Jones was not fined for grabbing and twisting the ankle of Panthers’ DE Brian Burns. The action, which could’ve been penalized for holding, did not rise to the level of a fine in the NFL’s opinion.

Many NFL fans are upset with the news.
“Literally caused a guy to get hurt, while performing an unnecessary action, lame,” one fan tweeted.
“I don’t get fined for grabbing twisting my opponents ankle in the middle of a game but I get fined over 15 THOUSAND DOLLARS for having my jersey untucked…..” another fan tweeted, referencing the fine to Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.
“One set of rules for the Patriots. One set for everyone else. League trying to pump up Dirty Mac, not tear him down,” another fan tweeted.
Jones and the Patriots beat the Panthers on Sunday.
This afternoon, New England is set to face Cleveland. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. E.T.
