On Saturday morning, the football world learned that the New England Patriots are expected to release veteran quarterback Brian Hoyer.

“The #Patriots are expected to release veteran QB Brian Hoyer by the start of the new league year on 3/15, a source said. Hoyer signed a 2-year deal worth $4m ($3m fully guaranteed) in March of 2022,” NFL insider Adam Caplan said this morning.

It didn’t take long for the football world to react to the latest news. Most expect the Patriots to add another quarterback before the 2023 season kicks off.

“Brian Hoyer’s expected release, per @caplannfl, leaves Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe as the QBs on the roster. A third QB would be expected to be added at some point this offseason,” ESPN’s Mike Reiss said.

Others are wondering where Hoyer will land next.

“49ers reunion? Could do a lot worse, and he would be super helpful for BP and TL,” one fan suggested.

Where should Hoyer play next?
