It’s out with the old and in with the new at wide receiver in New England as the new league year opens. But one now-former Patriots receiver is taking the news surprisingly poorly.
On Wednesday, the Patriots reportedly signed free agent wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster to a three-year, $33 million deal. Wide receiver Jakobi Meyers, who was let go in free agency after spending the last four years in New England, didn’t seem to like that.
“Cold world lol,” Meyers wrote in a retweet of NFL insider Ian Rapoport. His tweet has quickly gone viral with over 437,000 views, 6,500 likes and 1,500 retweets in just 20 minutes.
But fans of the Patriots and other NFL teams aren’t exactly sympathizing with him. Many are taking to Twitter to laugh at him for comparing himself to Smith-Schuster and for his all-time gaffe against the Raiders this past season:
“Maybe you shouldn’t attempt a lateral with 10 seconds left in the game next time,” one fan replied.
“Butt hurt ? Try too not pass the ball to the wrong team next year,” wrote another.
“Hey you could’ve came back, but you decided not to,” a third wrote.
It looks like Jakobi Meyers wants to be back with the New England Patriots. There’s still time for that to happen since he’s still a free agent.
