NFL Power Rankings: Top 20 Defenses

November 8, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

It’s that time of the week when we look at which defenses stepped up and which others fell after week 8 in the NFL. That means we could have some new teams on this list, so let’s get to this week’s top 10 defenses in the NFL power rankings. Have a great day, everyone, and may the tackles be with you.

1. Houston Texans – 267.4 Total Yards Against:

The Texans are the number one defense this week after a solid game against the Broncos. This week, they have the Jaguars coming to town, which should be a game they should win.

2. Cleveland Browns – 276.9 Total Yards Against:

The Browns defense continued to be the shining light in Cleveland. Before the bye, they put up 30 points to the Patriots, but also sacked Drake Maye six times.

3. Denver Broncos – 279.9 Total Yards Against:

The Broncos had a Fresno battle against the Texans in which they held them to 15 points while recording four sacks. This week, they get the incumbent Raiders, which should shape up to be another trench war again.

4. Atlanta Falcons – 282.5 Total Yards Against:

No one expected the Falcons defense to be solid, but here we are with them sitting at the fourth spot. This week, they’ll have their hands full with Jonathan Taylor and the Colts when they travel to Indianapolis.
