The New England Patriots will be honoring quarterback Tom Brady in Week 1 of the 2023 season. Patriots head coach Bill Belichick couldn’t be happier for him (contrary to popular belief).
Speaking to the media, Belichick said that it was “a great experience and opportunity” to coach Brady during his career. He highlighted how lucky he feels to have coached the greatest offensive player in NFL history and congratulated him on his new broadcasting career.
“I’ve spoken to Tom a couple of times. Always look forward to talking to Tom and what a great experience and opportunity it was for me to coach Tom,” Belichick said in his weekly appearance on the radio. “Tremendous appreciation for everything he did for me, did for our team, everything he gave us. Look forward to seeing him. Sounds like he’s moving on to a very successful career in broadcasting and whatever else he decides to do. He’s a pretty talented guy, I’m sure he’ll do well in whatever he chooses to do, whatever area that is. So, look forward to seeing him and I’m sure there will be a lot of excitement at the game, in the stands as there should be,” Belichick said.
Many fans have pointed out that this statement flies in the face of the longstanding narrative that Brady and Belichick have had a bad relationship for the past few years. Though some pointed out that Belichick failed to put his money where his mouth was when Brady left the team after the 2019 season.
That’s strange, all the talking heads, idiot reporters and mindless dickheads on here said they despised eachother 🤔 https://t.co/3bqsswTgSj

Belichick cannot simply praise Brady.
Any mention of Brady is alwaya 1 or 2 sentences away from Lawrence Taylor.
And now Matthew Slater, too https://t.co/9Qx2LiZdel

There’s the business side of football and then there’s the personal side.
While Brady and Belichick may not have seen eye-to-eye on the business side, the two clearly think the world of each other at a personal level.
