A Patriots fan passed away on Sunday night after an altercation with a Dolphins fan at Gillette Stadium. The fan has been identified as Dale Mooney, a 53-year-old New Hampshire native.
Mooney was reportedly unresponsive for several minutes after taking a “vicious punch.” His wife, Lisa, claims he never threw a punch during Sunday’s altercation.
The EMTs rushed Mooney to the hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after.
NFL fans around the world are understandably heartbroken by this senseless tragedy.
I am once again asking for teams to designate a separate section for away fans only (like soccer)
A tragedy that could have been prevented, RIP https://t.co/6CsoOjMimU

“People need to remember this when they let their fragile ego’s take over and decide they want to throw hands over a damn football game,” one person wrote. “This is so sad and could’ve been easily prevented. Rest in peace.”

Another fan wrote, “The @NFL has a real problem on their hands. The games are not kid friendly and can be downright dangerous at times. I wont be attending a game until they clean this mess up.”

Mooney was apparently a Patriots season-ticket holder for 30 years.
Our thoughts are with Mooney’s loved ones at this time.
