While the Philadelphia Eagles will win the NFC East for a second consecutive season, wide receiver AJ Brown continues to be a name in several trade rumors. According to sources, several NFL executives believe the Eagles may part ways with the superstar before the 2026 season, which wouldn’t be a surprise. Quarterback Jalen Hurts has struggled to develop a reliable chemistry with his pass-catchers this year, including Brown, who has aired his frustrations over the lack of usage. Despite winning a Super Bowl this past February, Brown hasn’t grown comfortable finding his rhythm in this offense, so a departure seems the best-case scenario for both sides.

NFL Electric Playmaker AJ Brown May Be Apart of Massive Blockbuster Trade
Originally selected in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, the former Ole Miss product began his career with the Tennessee Titans. However, due to a rebuild, the Titans traded Brown to the Eagles in 2022, which left current New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel disappointed in the decision. The three-time Pro Bowler continued to be an impactful player, recording over 1,400 receiving yards in each of the first seasons in Philadelphia.
Unfortunately, those numbers have dramatically dropped. Through 13 games this 2025 campaign, Brown hauled in 64 passes for 840 yards and seven touchdowns. It gives him a chance to break the 1,000-yard mark, but the veteran has been critical of the Eagles’ passing game, which would invite the conversation of a possible trade. If that happens, here are some destinations he could land with to become the alpha of the next team.
Possible Next Teams
New England Patriots
There have been rumors that the Patriots could acquire Brown this past offseason, and that could come to fruition in 2026. Quarterback Drake Maye is looking to be the real deal for this offense, which has been able to achieve success, especially with the help of their dominant defense. If the Patriots want to continue on an upward trend, they could find a way to get Brown, and Vrabel will likely do everything in his power to acquire him in a trade.
The potential duo between Maye and Brown won’t be a prime Tom Brady-Randy Moss, but the Patriots are back in the winning column. It’s a lot to look forward to with a well-rounded offense that also contains a strong run game, and Brown’s addition could add fuel to the engine.
San Francisco 49ers
Meanwhile, the 2026 offseason for the 49ers is expected to look complicated. Brandon Aiyuk will likely be released due to injuries and inconsistency issues, and Jauan Jennings is a free agent after the 2025 season. With Ricky Pearsall as the long-term slot option, the 49ers will need to fill the void in the deep threat department. This would give Brown a crucial opportunity to solidify himself as the No. 1 offense to help Brock Purdy potentially win his first Super Bowl on an offense-laden team.
Los Angeles Chargers
The same case may apply for the Chargers once their season is done, but veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen is getting old. He could retire or join another team to win a Super Bowl if the team decides to move on. Ladd McConkey is their go-to receiver for Justin Herbert, but they can’t afford to deal with the lack of play from Quentin Johnston. As the Chargers have enough money, the team should trade for Brown to add some electricity in Los Angeles.
