The New England Patriots will carry their six game win streak into Buffalo next Monday for an important AFC East rivalry game against the Bills.
However, there’s now some growing concern that one of the team’s starting defensive backs will miss a couple days just before the team travels to upstate New York.
According to ESPN’s Field Yates, Patriots safety Kyle Dugger missed practice on Wednesday with a “possible COVID-19-related situation.” It’s still unclear if the 25-year-old will end up on the reserve/COVID-19 list at this time.
New England wanted to be extra cautious with the situation so opted to keep Dugger out of practice. More information will surely come out on his status in the near future.

Dugger has been a staple of the Patriots secondary for the last two years after Bill Belichick drafted him in the second-round of the 2020 draft out of Lenoir-Rhyne. He quickly worked his way into the rotation at safety during his rookie season and has blossomed into a focal point of the defense in 2021.
Dugger has played in all 12 Patriots games so far this year, making 10 starts. He’s already recorded 67 total tackles, come up with three interceptions and recovered one fumble.
New England’s secondary will have to be up for the task against Josh Allen and the Bills high-powered passing attack when the time comes. Buffalo’s offense had stumbled in recent weeks, but bounced back in a major way on Thanksgiving against the New Orleans Saints.
The Patriots will hope that the extra day gives Dugger enough time to square things away and get back on the field. New England takes on Buffalo Monday night at 8:15 p.m. ET.
