As the New England Patriots continue to play musical chairs with their QBs room, the team is now bringing back a familiar face.

According to ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, the Patriots are going to sign Malik Cunningham to their practice squad if he clears waivers today. The Patriots waived Cunningham earlier this week.

“Quarterback Malik Cunningham is expected to sign back to #Patriots practice squad should he clear waivers today, per sources,” Fowler wrote.

Cunningham was a breakout star for the Patriots during the 2023 preseason but has only seen the field for six snaps this season. His only play of note is taking a five-yard sack in their recent loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Patriots may not be satisfied with what they’ve gotten from their quarterbacks this season, but they have to be pretty pleased with what they got this past week.

Quarterback Mac Jones led the Patriots to a 29-25 win over the Buffalo Bills, pushing them to 2-5 on the season with both of their wins coming in the AFC East. They’re 2-1 in the division with a second game against the Miami Dolphins coming up this weekend.

If the Patriots continue to beat divisional opponents, maybe everything will work itself out in the end.
