On Tuesday the Tennessee Titans made the very surprising decision to move on from head coach Mike Vrabel.

According to multiple reports the decision came straight from the top as owner Amy Adams Strunk opted to move on from the head coach. General manager Ran Carthon reportedly had a good relationship with Vrabel and wanted him to come back for another season.

Now that he’s officially on the open market everyone in the sports world is connecting him to the New England Patriots. While the team hasn’t moved on from Bill Belichick just yet, it certainly seems like the two sides will part ways in the coming weeks.

Once that happens, Vrabel is among the favorites to take over the role as Patriots head coach.

Mike Vrabel to Patriots fans in October: “I want you not to take this organization for granted. I’ve been a lot of places. This is a special place with great leadership, great fans, great direction, great coaching.

“Enjoy it. It’s not like this everywhere.”

Not long after the Titans fired Vrabel his old comments about the Patriots stemming from his induction into the team’s Hall of Fame started going viral.

“I want you not to take this organization for granted,” he said to Patriots fans during his induction speech. “I’ve been a lot of places. This is a special place with great leadership, great fans, great direction, great coaching. Enjoy it. It’s not like this everywhere.”

Jerod Mayo has reportedly been waiting in the wings to become Patriots head coach after Bill Belichick moved on, but Vrabel being on the open market might complicate matters.

Who will be the Patriots head coach in 2024?
