Running back Ezekiel Elliott finally came off the free agent market on Monday.
He agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $6 million with the New England Patriots to give them more depth at the position. He’ll get to form a one-two punch with Rhamondre Stevenson.
The #Patriots are expected to sign former #Cowboys star RB Ezekiel Elliott to a 1-year deal worth up to $6M after his successful FA visit earlier in camp, per me and @TomPelissero. This deal comes after the Dallas Cowboys cut Elliott on Mar. 15. He was set to count $16.7 million against the cap and the team freed up $10.9 million with his release.
Even though he’s not a member of the team anymore, head coach Mike McCarthy was happy for Elliott after he saw the news.
“He’ll do great up there,” McCarthy said. “Play-style alone, I think he’s a really good fit for how they like to play.”
Mike McCarthy was happy to see Ezekiel Elliott has a new home in New England, but maybe not so excited to play against him Oct. 1. “He’ll do great up there,” the coach said, adding. “Play-style alone, I think he’s a really good fit for how they like to play.”
