Bill Belichick and Mac Jones’ relationship has been rumored to have been rocky over their first two seasons together.
According to several reports, the Patriots head coach fielded trades for his young QB and didn’t appreciate how Jones handled things last year. While Jones was believed to have felt slighted by Belichick for failing to put together a competent offensive coaching staff.
On Wednesday, Jones was asked about their alleged “rift” and he appeared to confirm that things weren’t always the greatest between the two.

“I think we’re good,” Jones said, via MassLive’s Karen Guregian. “The big thing we talked about was having a fresh start.”
The Patriots offense was abysmal in 2022 but they still found a way to hover around the .500 mark and remain in playoff contention later in the season.
With that said, New England has now posted just one winning record since Tom Brady walked out of Gillette Stadium and there’s a ton of pressure on Belichick, Jones and the Patriots to make something happen in a much stronger AFC East than years past.
