The Patriots decided to release wide receiver Lynn Bowden Jr. this Wednesday.
Bowden, 25, started his NFL career with the Raiders as a third-round pick. He was then traded to the Dolphins.
In September of 2022, the Patriots signed Bowden to their practice squad. The front office would then sign him to a reserve/futures contract in January of 2023.
Now, Bowden will have to find a new home before training camp begins in late July.
For the most part, the NFL world is disappointed by New England’s decision. Some fans thought Bill Belichick would find a way to utilize Bowden’s unique skillset.

Bowden had an interesting career at Kentucky to say the least. In 2019, he took over at quarterback after injuries decimated the Wildcats’ depth chart.
In his final season of college football, Bowden had 1,468 rushing yards, 403 passing yards and 348 receiving yards. He earned All-SEC honors and won the Paul Hornung Award.
Will another NFL team take a chance on Bowden? We’ll have to wait and see.
