While not every former New England Patriots teammate will close the door on a possible Tom Brady comeback, Tedy Bruschi said it’s not happening.
The recently retired Devin McCourty told Chris Long he could see Brady getting “very excited” about possibly playing for the Miami Dolphins. On Monday’s episode of ESPN’sGet Up (h/t NESN), Bruschi disagreed with the former defensive back’s theory.
“I think he’s done,” Bruschi said. “I don’t think he’s coming back. I think it is over for Tom Brady.”
Bruschi acknowledged he also thought Brady was retired for good last year, but he believes “other factors” will deter the star quarterback from returning again.
“He’s closed the door shut in my opinion,” he continued. “A 46-year-old body — whatever he’s going to be — just coming into a team to play. There’s a process that this person believes in terms of Tom Brady. A process of offseason, a process of getting with his receivers about going through specific steps and getting ready for a season. I just don’t think he’s willing to do it anymore.”
Brusci said he thinks Brady is “done with that lifestyle” after over two decades of “insane” preparation.
Brady reunited with former Patriots teammates for a beach day, but it doesn’t look like he’ll return to face Bill Belichick and Co. twice with the Dolphins.
