New England Patriots linebacker Chase Winovich appears to be closer to being activated. As noted by ESPN’s Mike Reiss, Winovich has started performing physical activity once again.
The linebacker did not take part in the mandatory minicamp held in June. He did partake in practices prior to the minicamp. He has not been participating in training camp since it began on July 28.
He recorded 48 tackles and 5.5 sacks for New England last year. his best game statistically came against the Baltimore Ravens on November 15. In that contest, he recorded seven tackles.
As Reiss notes, Winovich is getting closer to providing production.
Outside linebacker Chase Winovich, who opened training camp on the physically unable to perform list with an undisclosed ailment, has started running again, which puts him one step closer to being activated. Winovich wasn’t on the field in June’s mandatory minicamp but had participated in voluntary practices before that.
With the Patriots putting forth a deep linebacker unit for the fall, Winovich has the chance to be a productive depth piece moving forward.
