New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones is under a big microscope heading into the 2023 season.
It’s no secret that he struggled in 2022 and was a reason why the Patriots failed to return to the playoffs for the second time in the last three seasons.
Since then, he’s taken those struggles personally and has vowed to be better for this season.
Julian Edelman, who used to play for the franchise and is the owner of four Super Bowl rings, is impressed with how Jones has looked at training camp.
“I mean, what people don’t realize, in this part of training camp, it’s not always drawn up to look like it should be a great play. A lot of times they’re testing guys, and the defense has multiple different looks, and the offense isn’t game-planning for certain looks. So, you go in for controlled chaos. You kind of want to see how guys react to certain looks and things. So, it’s pretty good,” Edelman said, via NESN.
Jones will need to translate this success to games and the first one will come on Sept. 10 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Before that, the Patriots will play three preseason games, the first of which will be next Thursday (Aug. 10) against the Houston Texans.
