JuJu Smith-Schuster got paid during free agency after winning Super Bowl LVII with the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Chiefs decided to not re-sign him which led to him signing a three-year deal with the Patriots. He’ll essentially be Jakobi Meyers’ replacement after he left for the Las Vegas Raiders.
Smith-Schuster was asked what the main reason was for signing in New England and it came down to one person.
“To be honest, it was (Bill) Belichick, man,” Smith-Schuster said, (first transcribed by NESN). “The guy, you know — just the want and the need. And the position that I can fill there really, really caught my attention. And…feeling wanted in a place where I played against, a head coach I have a lot of respect for. And I just think that goes a long way.”
What was it that attracted JuJu Smith-Schuster to New England?
