Though their parting seemed far from amicable, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and New England Patriots running back Ezekiel Elliott could be mending the bridges when the two teams meet this weekend.
Appearing on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, Jones hinted that there could be a surprise for Elliott waiting for him at AT&T Stadium this week. “I don’t want to blow a surprise, Jones said.
As for his relationship with Elliott, Jones made it clear that Elliott was one of the most feared running backs he’s ever seen and dished out a ton of punishment on opposing defenders.
“As far as a back that the opposing team hates to tackle, I think he’s at the top of the list. Zeke took a toll on those defensive players. I’ll always remember that,” he added.
It sounds like the Cowboys will do something to honor Ezekiel Elliott before Sunday’s game at AT&T Stadium. When asked about it, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on @1053thefan declined to comment, saying, “I don’t want to blow a surprise.”

In his first three NFL seasons, Ezekiel Elliott led the league in rushing yards twice and led the league in yards per game each of those years.
But Elliott’s yards per game mark decreased in every single year he was in Dallas. Between his salary and the ascension of Tony Pollard, the Cowboys made the tough decision to cut Elliott this past offseason.
He’ll have his shot at revenge this weekend. But maybe there will be a lot less bad blood.
