The Patriots Hall of Famer spent the past five years working in Foxborough.
After five seasons on the staff in Foxborough, Troy Brown is heading to the East Rutherford.
The New England Patriots Hall of Famer has been hired by head coach Brian Daboll’s New York Giants as an offensive assistant through the NFL Minority Coaching Fellowship, the team announced Thursday.
Brown, 53, began his coaching career where he spent the duration of his playing career. After assisting in an unofficial capacity in 2019, he was named New England’s returners coach in 2020 while also lending a hand with veteran Ivan Fears’ running back room. The three-time Super Bowl champion went on to oversee the team’s wide receivers for three seasons and doubled in the return game.
Following Bill Belichick’s departure in 2024, Brown worked in skill development and continued as the kick and punt returners coach under Jerod Mayo. He was not retained after Mike Vrabel was named the 16th head coach in franchise history in January.
A three-time Super Bowl champion, Brown was selected in the eighth round of the 1993 NFL draft. The Marshall product went on to tally 557 receptions for 6,366 and 31 touchdowns in the regular season during his Patriots tenure. Across 192 games, he amassed 2,625 yards on punt returns, 1,862 yards on kick returns and scored three touchdowns in the third phase while also intercepting three passes as a slot cornerback.
Brown, who was named to the Pro Bowl in 2001, retired following the 2007 campaign. In addition to the Patriots Hall of Fame, he holds a place in the College Football Hall of Fame as well as on New England’s All-2000s team, 50th Anniversary team and All-Dynasty team.
