Etienne was in town for a 30 visit on Wednesday.

As the final day to bring prospects in for 30 visits, Wednesday marked a crucial point in the NFL’s draft preparation. With a little over a week before the first round, the bulk of the work is now done.

The New England Patriots wrapped up this part of the process by hosting a projected mid-round running back at Gillette Stadium. Trevor Etienne, who spent his college career at Florida and Georgia, was in town for a visit.

Etienne effectively reported the news himself, sharing a picture of him at One Patriot Place on social media.

Etienne, 20, had a productive two-year stint in Florida. As a true freshman and sophomore, he appeared in 24 games with two starts and touched the ball 279 yards for a combined 1,710 yards and 15 touchdowns from scrimmage. Despite his promising stat-line, he decided to enter the transfer portal after his second season in Gainesville.

Looking for an opportunity to become a team’s feature back, he joined the University Georgia. He did miss the season opener due to a team suspension following an offseason arrest for reckless driving and underage possession of alcohol, and later had to sit out three games with a rib injury, but Etienne got what he wanted.

Georgia’s No. 1 running back in 2024, he started all 10 games he appeared in and finished with 122 carries for 609 yards and 9 touchdowns. He also added 32 receptions for 194 more yards. A third-team All-SEC selection, he decided to skip his senior season.

The Patriots are entering the draft as potential investors in a deep running back class. While they do have Rhamondre Stevenson and Antonio Gibson atop their depth chart, they lack a true receiving back and could benefit from an infusion of developmental youth.

Etienne would check both of those boxes.

He is the 18th known player to have visited Foxborough before the draft. Only one other running back, Tennessee’s Dylan Sampson, also finds himself on that list.
