Things are not going swimmingly for the New England Patriots right now.
They’re fresh off another blowout loss and are 1-4 for the first time since 2000 when Bill Belichick was in his first season as head coach.
Despite the horrid start, it doesn’t appear Belichick is in jeopardy of losing his job right now, and former Patriots cornerback Asante Samuel has a thought on why that is.
“It seems like Mr. Kraft is scared of Coach Belichick,” Samuel said, via NESN. “He has all the power, all the glory but you’re the one that can step in and take this away but you’re not doing it. You’re letting the whole Patriots legacy just continue to die and look like it belongs to one man. I wonder if that is true — if Belichick has something over him because I don’t know why this is lasting so long and everyone still believes in Belichick.”
Ever since Tom Brady left, the Patriots haven’t been the same. In the last three seasons, they’ve missed the playoffs twice and have finished with a record below .500 during those two years.
It looks like this season may be the third in four years where those two things occur and if they do, Kraft may have no choice but to listen to Samuel.
