The NFL community received heartbreaking news this week. Former Patriots cornerback Malik Gant has passed away at the young age of 25.

Gant died just four days before his 26th birthday. His family released a statement on this tragic situation.

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of our beloved family member, Malik Gant. Malik was found deceased on May 25, 2023, in Miami, Florida. We are devastated by this unimaginable loss and are grieving deeply,” the family’s statement read. “Malik was a remarkable individual who touched the lives of many with his kindness, charisma, and unwavering spirit. He will be remembered as a loving son, a cherished brother, a devoted grandson, a valued teammate, and a dear friend to countless individuals. His memory will forever live on in our hearts.”

The cause of Gant’s death has not been revealed.

Gant signed with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent from Marshall in 2019. He racked up 195 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, 14 pass breakups and two interceptions in his final two seasons of college football.

Our thoughts are with Gant’s loved ones.
