Former Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott was on a visit this Saturday to see what the Patriots have to offer. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo, that visit didn’t end with a contract signing.
“No deal for Ezekiel Elliott and the #Patriots today but that doesn’t mean there won’t be going forward,” Garafolo reported. “He remains a free agent.”
It’s possible Elliott will use Saturday’s visit as a springboard for other meetings. If his market doesn’t heat up, he can always revisit his conversations with the Patriots.
Besides, Elliott isn’t expected to land a lucrative contract since it’s very late in the offseason and his skills are on the decline.

Even though Elliott is no longer in his prime, he could be serviceable in New England.
Last season, Elliott had 876 yards and 12 touchdowns on 231 carries. He also had 17 receptions for 92 yards.
The Patriots currently have Rhamondre Stevenson listed as their starting running back. Ty Montgomery, Pierre Strong Jr. and Kevin Harris are behind him on the depth chart.
