Ex-Patriots Star: Bill Belichick Is ‘Absolutely Not’ Greatest Coach Ever

July 19, 2023 by The Spun

FOXBOROUGH, MASSACHUSETTS – JANUARY 04: Head coach Bill Belichick of the New England Patriots addresses the media in a press conference following the Patriots 20-13 loss to the Tennessee Titans in the AFC Wild Card Playoff game at Gillette Stadium on January 04, 2020 in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Former New England Patriots cornerback Asante Samuel didn’t hold back when he was asked about his former head coach.

Samuel was asked whether Bill Belichick is the greatest head coach of all time and offered a quick rebuttal.

“Absolutely not. Are you crazy?” Samuel said. “Look at his record without Tom (Brady). You have got to win without Tom.”

Is Bill Belichick the best coach in NFL history?

He went on to say that all of the Patriots’ success was because of Brady and that you’ve gotta be great in “different” situations.

It’s no secret that the Patriots have lost their luster since Brady left a few years ago. Since he left, they have missed the playoffs in two of the last three seasons.

The Patriots have also not won a playoff game since defeating the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LIII.

That was four years ago and now the pressure is on for Belichick to start getting better results without Brady.
