Tiquan Underwood was not retained by New England in January.
A member of the 2024 New England Patriots staff has caught on in the NFC East.
The Dallas Cowboys hired Tiquan Underwood as their next assistant wide receivers coach on Monday, according to a report from TheMMQB’s Albert Breer.
The Cowboys are bringing former NFL wideout Tiquan Underwood aboard as assistant receivers coach, per source. He was with New England last year, and had interest from Florida State before making the call to stay in the league.

Underwood, 37, held the same position in Foxborough last season under previous head coach Jerod Mayo. Along with wide receivers coach Tyler Hughes and the rest of the offensive side, he was not retained in January as new head coach Mike Vrabel’s tenure began.
New England’s wideout depth chart combined to total 161 catches for 1,718 yards and 10 touchdowns during the 4-13 campaign while being led by NFL sophomores DeMario Douglas and Kayshon Boutte. It’s a room that will now be overseen by veteran hire Todd Downing.
Underwood previously served as the wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator at the University of Pittsburgh during the 2022 and 2023 seasons. And prior to then, the Rutgers product worked as the receivers coach at his alma mater and also at Lafayette College — with a year as an offensive quality control coach for the Miami Dolphins arriving in between.
Selected in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL draft at No. 253 overall, Underwood caught 63 passes for 1,006 yards and six touchdowns across stints with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Carolina Panthers and Patriots.
After 45 NFL games, the 6-foot-1, 183-pound target concluded his playing career with the CFL’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Montreal Alouettes.
