On Wednesday’s edition of “The Herd,” Colin Cowherd reacted to Dan Orlovsky’s comments about Bill Belichick leaving the Patriots this offseason.
Orlovsky told Pat McAfee that Belichick already knows where he’ll coach once he inevitably moves on from New England.
“I have heard that’s going to be the case. Who knows the likelihood of it, but I’ve heard it’s going to happen, and I’ve heard the location is already kind of determined as well,” Orlovsky said.
Cowherd is convinced that Orlovsky was talking about the Commanders.
“That leads me to believe it would be Washington,” Cowherd said. “They haven’t determined anything with the Charges, and he’s an east coast guy.”
Even though Cowherd mentioned Washington as a potential landing spot for Belichick, he doesn’t think the Commanders should pursue him.
“On the surface, Washington has some nice skill players and Bill doesn’t draft those,” Cowherd explained. “What they don’t have is a star quarterback. They have Sam Howell, who deserves another year, but I don’t think he’s a hoist the trophy guy. Between Cleveland and New England, Bill has drafted 12 quarterbacks. He’s hit a home run with one. The good news is, initially, they have what Bill can’t draft: weapons. But if Bill is your GM, he is an abject disaster. That’s being diplomatic.”

Earlier this month, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk briefly speculated about a trade between the Commanders and Patriots centered around Belichick.
If the Patriots are ready to say goodbye to the Belichick era, it’ll be fascinating to see what type of effect his departure will have on the AFC East – if any.
