The idea of Bill Belichick being on the hot seat may sound ludicrous to most NFL fans, but apparently that might be a reality in a New England.
According to Ben Volin of The Boston Globe, Patriots owner Robert Kraft expects his team to make the playoffs and win a postseason game this season. That’s something the franchise hasn’t accomplished since 2018.
Volin added that Belichick’s friends are privately concerned about his future with the Patriots.
Some of Belichick’s friends are worried that he may actually be coaching for his job this fall.
“Robert Kraft already made it clear in March that he wants the Patriots to make the postseason and win a playoff game for the first time in five years,” Volin wrote. “He also paid Jerod Mayo handsomely to keep him off the coaching market and likely views him as the team’s coach-in-waiting. And Belichick’s friends have privately said they are worried that he is on the hot seat in 2023.”
New: Mac Jones is already getting the invite to the Hamptons from the Krafts? Wow.
Belichick better tread carefully with his young QB, who evidently is a lot tighter with the Patriots’ owners than we realizedhttps://t.co/IVcB0Jim21

Belichick has been coaching the Patriots since 2000. The thought of someone else coaching this franchise just seems odd.
That being said, Belichick can’t live off his previous achievements. The NFL is a “what have you done for me lately” league.
