Bill Belichick has interviewed quite a few players in his days as head coach/GM of the New England Patriots.
So, when the all-time great coach calls you his best interview ever, that means something.
On Tuesday, Belichick said he was “stunned” by his pre-draft interview with Devin McCourty back in 2010.
“I’ve never had an interview like that,” he said, per team insider Zack Cox.
Bill Belchick said he was “stunned” by how impressive Devin McCourty was in his pre-draft interview. Said McCourty rattled through the assignments of every defensive player, even when Belichick intentionally tried to stump him.

Belichick and the Patriots selected McCourty with the No. 27 overall pick in the 2010 draft. The star defensive back played all 13 of his NFL seasons in New England before announcing his retirement earlier this offseason.
Belichick clearly trusted McCourty from the jump. The former Rutgers star started all 16 games in his rookie season — and ever other game in which he was available from that point on.
There’s no question that Belichick and the Patriots will miss McCourty’s leadership in the secondary this coming season.
