The New England Patriots franchise received some bad news on Tuesday.
Former Patriots quarterback Ryan Mallett passed away due to a drowning incident in Florida. He was just 35-years-old and had been serving as head coach of the White Hall High School football team.
Patriots head Bill Belichick, who coached Mallett for several years, reacted with a statement released by the team social media account following the news.
“I am extremely saddened by Ryan’s tragic passing,” Belichick said. “My thoughts and prayers are with his family and the many people whose lives he touched.”

The Patriots drafted the former Arkansas quarterback in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He spent three seasons in New England before joining Houston Texans for two seasons and Baltimore Ravens for three seasons. That became his final action as an NFL quarterback.
During his six seasons in the league, Mallett completed 55.1 percent of his passes for 1,835 yards, 9 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
Praying for Mallett’s family during this rough situation.
