After nearly 50 years coaching in the NFL, Bill Belichick is still at it.
Entering his 29th season as a head coach, the six-time Super Bowl champ was asked what keeps him going. To which Belichick simply replied: “It’s what I do. … It beats working.”

Belichick enters the 2023 season 19 wins short of passing the late, great Don Shula for the most in league history. If the Patriots can go 10-7 or 9-8 over the next couple of seasons, he’ll stand atop the NFL mountain as the winningest coach of all-time.
What Belichick’s future holds after that is unclear. Some believe he’ll eventually move upstairs to the front office in more of an advisory role, much like his mentor Bill Parcells towards the end of his career.
The Patriots go into the year as something of a wildcard in the AFC East. If the team can get more out of the offensive side of the ball with Bill O’Brien as OC, New England could definitely be in playoff contention.
