Patriots head coach Bill Belichick sent a not-so-subtle message to Patriots rookie wideout Kayshon Boutte this Friday.
Belichick was asked to share what he has seen from Boutte’s development behind the scenes. The former LSU star has been inactive for the past six games.
“It’s been a very competitive situation. I feel like we have a lot of competition at that position,” Belichick said. “Guys who perform the best play the most, the guys that don’t need to perform better.”
Judging by Belichick’s comments, it sounds like Boutte is still buried on the depth chart.

Boutte received four targets in Week 1 against the Eagles. He was unable to record a catch.
While the injury report suggests that Boutte’s hamstring injury is no longer an issue, that doesn’t mean he’ll be active this Sunday against the Dolphins.
As of right now, Kendrick Bourne, Demario Douglas, JuJu Smith-Schuster, DeVante Parker and Tyquan Thornton are ahead of Boutte on the depth chart.
