Alvin Kamara Injury Update: Saints RB’s Week 6 Status Updated

October 12, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara suffered an ankle injury during the team’s Week 5 win over the New York Giants and is officially listed as questionable for Sunday’s contest against the New England Patriots. Fortunately for Saints fans, Mike Triplett of New Orleans.Football believes the running back is on track to play and should start against one of the league’s up-and-coming teams.

Alvin Kamara Injury Update: Saints RB Expected to Play Against Patriots

Even if this report is correct, Alvin Kamara probably won’t receive the same workload he’s received in recent years. After all, the running back is in his age-30 season and is one of the biggest trade targets on the Saints roster. Despite last week’s win, this team is still in the midst of a rebuild and will probably sell their established veterans for draft picks. Kamara won’t earn them a king’s ransom, but New Orleans should be interested in selling him for whatever they can get.

With Kamara likely playing a smaller role, look for Kendre Miller to become a bigger part of the offense. A third-round pick who couldn’t stay out of former head coach Dennis Allen’s doghouse, the TCU product has played well under current head coach Kellen Moore. So far this season, Miller has recorded 165 carries and one touchdown on 38 carries, good for 4.3 yards per attempt despite playing behind a subpar offensive line. While he’ll still be Kamara’s backup, don’t be surprised if he finishes the night with 10-12 carries.

Even if Alvin Kamara can play through his injury, the Saints will have a tough time earning a win against the New England Patriots. The team is currently 3-2, thanks in large part to the emergence of second-year quarterback Drake Maye, his improved offensive line, and the presence of veteran wideout Stefon Diggs.
