Al Michaels Couldn’t Help But Mention The Over In Steelers-Patriots Game

Al Michaels has never been shy about alluding to gambling while broadcasting a game.

Therefore, it shouldn’t have been surprising to hear the legendary play-by-play announcer slyly work in a reference to the “over” hitting during the first half of tonight’s Patriots-Steelers game on Amazon Prime Video.

After Pittsburgh scored on a touchdown pass to trim New England’s lead to 21-10, Michaels and partner Kirk Herbstreit had a hilarious exchanged.

“They answered the call. They needed the points and they got ’em,” said Herbstreit about the Steelers.

“And if you liked the over, they’ve also answered the call,” Michaels quipped.

Well-played. Anyone who did bet the over has to be pleasantly surprised; it was set at 30 points, the lowest projected total in over 30 years.

To surpass that in the first half is a major shock. The Patriots have seemingly found a semblance of an offense out of nowhere, with Bailey Zappe lighting up the Steelers to the tune of 14-of-21 passing for 196 yards and three touchdowns.

Catch the second half coming up momentarily.
