What Your Favorite Rom-Com Says About You

January 19, 2026 by The Heights

The rom-com might just be back.

At the very least, it’s been revived with the Netflix adaptation of Emily Henry’s novel, People We Meet on Vacation, featuring an adorable cast and chemistry for days.

The perfect rom-com is frankly an art, and people definitely aren’t afraid to argue for their die-hard favorite. Whether you watch them for your favorite celebrity, to feed your delusions, or just to feel something, here is what your favorite rom-com on Netflix says about you.

People We Meet on Vacation

Main character Poppy Wright is essentially just an extension of you—you’re bubbly and bright, and always up for a new adventure. You’re itching to leave the confines of Chestnut Hill and are already planning your spring break trip, researching nonstop, and crafting the perfect Pinterest vision board.

You’re an Emily Henry superfan and are an avid Goodreads user, always grabbing one of her books for a long flight or a beach trip. You’ve probably also told all your friends that Boston College is featured in the movie, bragging that Tom Blyth himself sported an authentic BC Bookstore crewneck.

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

If Spotify Wrapped told you that your listening age is anything over 50, chances are you’re a fan of this film. You love the classics, and for you, nothing will ever top the chemistry of Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey in their prime. The backdrop of New York is slowly convincing you to drop out and pursue city life in the hopes of being chased down a bridge just like Andie Anderson.

“You’re So Vain” has crept its way onto your playlists, and you’ve relentlessly scoured the internet to find *the* yellow dress—don’t worry, it’ll happen one day. 2000s style coming back is also great news for you, because your closet is already full of thrifted Y2K outfits.

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before

You defend this movie with your life as the all-time best Netflix original. You’re a true romantic and probably have some Notes app poetry locked in your phone. You listen to the soundtrack unironically on a day-to-day basis and convince your friends to listen to it too.

A night in is always your style. You probably hosted a The Summer I Turned Pretty watch party, and are waiting for the next Jenny Han adaptation to be released. If you’ve got this movie, a cozy blanket, and a nice hot drink, nothing else matters.

Set It Up

You were a Glen Powell fan before it was cool. This is your go-to “feel good” fix on a bad day, because who doesn’t love a cheesy movie with an absolutely stacked cast and hilarious moments? I mean, Pete Davidson, Lucy Liu, and Taye Diggs? Come. On.

You might give some subtle millennial vibes, but in the best way possible. Your radical optimism, self-deprecating humor, and fun personality make everyone around you happier. You are heavily campaigning for Powell and Zoey Deutch to make a new movie together, and wholeheartedly believe that the two of them are the key to the return of the rom-com.

Mr. & Ms. Smith

Maybe rom-coms weren’t your thing until you saw this movie, but now you’re hooked. It’s the perfect combination of witty one-liners, high-intensity action, and a ton of chemistry. You mourn the Brangelina era and hate the new TV reboot, because nothing can outdo the original (sorry, Donald Glover).

You’re incredibly active and find yourself at the Plex more often than not, trying a new workout class or lifting weights. You probably have the perfect vintage leather jacket or pair of boots. You’re effortlessly cool, and I’m honestly a little scared of you.
