On Wednesday evening, UMBC sophomore guard Dion Brown announced his intention to transfer to the Boston College men’s basketball program.

Brown was quite the scorer for the Retrievers last season, leading the team with 19 points per game and adding 7.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists on top of that. The 6’3” rising junior had some big explosive games, putting up 20+ points on some opponents that BC may be familiar with like Louisville, UMass Lowell, Lehigh, UVM, UNH, Maine, and even Iowa. He hasn’t gotten the chance to play much against ACC-level teams, but the same thing could’ve been said about Claudell Harris Jr. last offseason, who ended up being a great scorer at BC.
Eagles head coach Earl Grant is in a bit of a scramble to fill out his roster after the most important players from BC entered the transfer portal after the 2023-24 season ended. It’s looking like the Eagles will have an almost completely different roster than they had last season, so additions like this one are huge to ensure the continued success of the program.
Welcome to the Heights, Dion!
