Three-star forward Jalyn Collingwood shines at 3SSB finals, picks up plethora of offers

ROCK HILL, SC — Nobody helped their stock more at the 3SSB Championships than class of 2026 three-star small forward Jalyn Collingwood.

The 6-foot-6, 200-pound forward out of Sidwell Friends (DC), was simply electric. He showed off all facets of his skillset, from throwing down vicious dunks, to pulling up and draining mid-range shots, to blocking shots. Collingwood may have had the dunk of the tournament.

His program, New World, made it all the way to the semifinals before falling to D1 Minnesota by two points. Collingwood averaged 13.7 points and 2.5 rebounds across six games while shooting 44.6% from the field and 7-of-21 (33.3%) from beyond the arc.

“I’m someone who can do everything,” Collingwood told ZAGSBLOG. “I play hard, play defense. And offensively, I’m a three-level scorer, everything. So I think I’m just a very well-rounded player. I love to get to my pull-up. That’s my bread and butter. It’s like a layup for me. That’s what I work on constantly, and that’s my go-to.”

Due to his play, Collingwood has picked up six new offers since July 10: Arizona State, Boston College, Iowa State, Oklahoma State, Pitt and Xavier. He previously held offers from the likes of Butler, George Washington, Iona, La Salle, Louisville, Mississippi State and UTSA, among others. Texas Tech is another program that’s been showing interest and had an assistant courtside to watch him play.

ZAGSBLOG also spotted Iowa State’s TJ Otzelberger, Louisville’s Pat Kelsey, Mississippi State’s Chris Jans, Oklahoma State’s Steve Lutz, and assistants from Boston College, Pitt, and more courtside to watch the small forward play in Rock Hill.

Collingwood hasn’t taken any visits yet, but he has an official set up to Mississippi State from Sept. 12-14. Butler is also expected to receive a visit.

The small forward broke down some of these programs to ZAGSBLOG:

Boston College: “They’ve been recruiting me since I was young, like 10th grade I think, 9th grade. They’ve been on me for a long time and I have a great relationship with those guys.”

Butler: “Butler’s head coach, coach [Thad] Matta develops players as well as being able to play in another top conference: the Big East. I have a great relationship with them.”

Mississippi State: “Mississippi State gives me the opportunity to play in the SEC, one of the top conferences in the country. They heavily believe in all my abilities on the court.”

Texas Tech: “I know a little bit about them. New World alum Elijah Hawkins plays with them, so I watch them play. I think I fit them very well and they love me.”

Collingwood hasn’t given any thought to narrowing down his list or an ideal commitment timeframe.

“I’m going to take visits first and see what everybody’s talking about,” he said.

As for what he’s looking for in a program?

“Just a good relationship with the coaches to where it’s like a family,” Collingwood said. “That’s the main thing that’s important because that makes you want to play basketball at the next level. Since you’re away from your original family, having a family on campus, somebody who’s going to develop you, really pour into you [is important].”

Collingwood is ranked the No. 263 overall prospect in the 2026 class by Rivals and the No. 2 prospect out of Washington, D.C. The small forward said his best traits are his athleticism and being a leader for his team.
