As expected, Ryan Leonard has signed a contract with the Washington Capitals following the end of BC’s season. Leonard, who played 2 seasons at BC, was drafted 8th overall by the Capitals in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.

HELLO, LENO‼️

The Washington Capitals have signed forward Ryan Leonard to a three-year entry-level contract. Leonard’s contract will carry an average annual value of $950,000.#ALLCAPS | @Shift4

In his 2 seasons with the Eagles, Leonard scored 61 points and recorded 48 assists, for a career total of 109 points. He was also a member of Team USA in the World Junior Championship the past 2 years, recording 6 points 2 years ago and 10 points this year.

Leonard, who is expected to make his debut in the Caps next game against the Bruins at TD Garden, will be the only former Eagle on Washington’s roster. Connor Moore, who played for BC from 2016-20 is the only former Eagle currently in the Caps system – he plays for their ECHL affiliate, the South Carolina Stingrays.

Leonard, who has offensive flash and isn’t afraid to cause a little chaos, is sure to be a fast fan favorite in Washington. We wish him the best of luck in his professional career!
