Last time out, Boston College men’s basketball narrowly escaped defeat against Stonehill. On Saturday, in BC’s second ACC game of the season, the Eagles will be taking on a very solid SMU team in Chestnut Hill.

Who: SMU Mustangs (9-2) vs. Boston College Eagles (7-4)

Where: Conte Forum, Chestnut Hill, MA

When: Saturday, December 21st, 2024

Tip-off Time: 12 PM EST

How to Watch: This game will be available to watch on ACC Network.

The Southern Methodist Mustangs are 9-2 and 1-0 in the ACC, with their conference win coming against Virginia on December 7th. SMU’s other notable wins have been against Washington State and LSU and their two losses came in November against Butler and Mississippi State.

The Mustangs have five players averaging double-digit points and are led in scoring by junior guard Kevin “Boopie” Miller. He spent two seasons at Central Michigan, before transferring to Wake Forest and then SMU. This season, he is averaging 14.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game. Chuck Harris is one of Miller’s running mates in the backcourt and he’s putting up 12.1 points, 2.6 boards, and 2.2 assists per game, while shooting 45.9% from the field and 45.7 from beyond the arc.

Samet Yigitoglu, Kario Oquendo, and B.J. Edwards are the other three SMU players averaging double-digits. Yigitoglu is a 7’2 freshman center from Turkey who is second on the team in rebounds with 6.2 boards per game. Oquendo is a two-time transfer guard shooting 50% from three-point land and Edwards is also a former transfer from Tennessee who is averaging 10.1 points and 2.5 steals per game. Matt Cross is another Mustang to look out for. He hails from Beverly, Massachusetts, and is putting up a solid 8.9 points and 8.6 rebounds per game.

SMU looks to be a significant force in the ACC this year and ranks 28th in the country in points scored (84.7 per game) and 13th in total rebounds per game (42.5). Earl Grant and his Eagles will have their work cut out for them in this matchup.
