The USA Today preseason coaches poll came out this afternoon and for the first time in recent memory, Boston College is receiving votes in the poll.
BC received a total of 6 votes – 20th of a total of 34 teams in the “also receiving votes” category in the poll, which is conducted by a panel of 65 FBS coaches.
Noteworthy for BC:
-Clemson is #2 (behind Alabama at #1… with Oklahoma and Ohio St rounding out the top 4. Should be another compelling and fresh playoff race!)
-NC State, Virginia Tech, and Missouri all appear a smidge before BC on the ‘also receiving votes’ list.
-Florida State received 1 vote.
Obviously preseason polls don’t mean much other than as a reflection of hype generated around a team going into a season, but BC getting into the discussion here tracks with the program’s increased national profile under Jeff Hafley.
Now all that’s left is for the team to deliver – and if they do, a spot in the top 25 could be there for the taking in the first few weeks.
