On Wednesday, the ACC released their official preseason media poll for the 2025 football season, and the Boston College Eagles found themselves ranked 13th out of the 17 teams in the conference. You can read the full results here.

A 13th-place finish would be a downgrade for BC, who finished last season with a 4-4 conference record and in a tie for 8th place with Virginia Tech. This confirms that expectations for the Eagles seem to be generally lower than they were last year, with the oddsmakers in Vegas giving BC a projected 5.5 win total after they finished 7-6 last season.

The big questions for Boston College are in the trenches on both sides of the ball. BC lost most of its best players on the offensive line in the to the draft, while star defensive end Donovan Ezeiruaku was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2025 NFL Draft as well. The Eagles are expected to improve at the skill positions, including a possible QB change looming, but the uncertainty around the lines seems to have put a damper on the team’s overall expectations.

You can combine that with the fact that BC has a lot of tough opponents on its conference schedule this season. Clemson, SMU, Georgia Tech, and Louisville are all in this poll’s top-5. Add in that out-of-conference match-up against Notre Dame, and it will not be an easy ride for Bill O’Brien in his second year as head coach. If this poll is accurate, Boston College will likely only be favored against four of their twelve opponents this season (Fordham, Stanford, Cal, UConn).

What do you think? Is this an accurate rank for the Eagles, or will they outperform their expectations? Let us know in the comments.
