Pardon the delay, but big news on the Heights from yesterday: Boston College and New Balance are taking their relationship to the next level. After about four years of seeing the rest of BC’s teams rocking the NB logo, it’s finally football’s turn. Going into effect immediately for this season, the Eagles will be fully decked out in New Balance gear across the board, marking the first time a major college football program has partnered with the Boston-based brand.
It’s a hometown connection that just makes sense, and it’s sure to give BC a unique look on the field. New Balance has been making waves across the sports world, signing the likes of Shohei Ohtani, Cooper Flagg, Coco Gauff, and Noah Lyles. Their headquarters in Boston have provided great opportunities for BC Athletes (and alum). The partnership has given BC teams access to the track and complex at Boston Landing chalk full of facilities for training, events, and recovery. The basketball team has even been involved in aiding the design and product enhancements they actually wear.
Football was part of a legacy deal with Adidas for the past several seasons while the rest of the athletics program migrated to New Balance. BC signed a 10-year deal back in 2021 that was the largest financial footwear and apparel agreement in Boston College athletics history. It gave New Balance rights to uniforms, apparel, and footwear for 30 of BC’s 31 varsity sports and now the circle is complete. We’ve come a long way since Under Armour just five years ago.
