A hand injury forced Boston College starting quarterback Phil Jurkovec out of Saturday’s game against UMass after just four passes. Unfortunately, he’s going to be out a lot longer than that.
On Monday, Jurkovec took to Instagram and posted a photo of his hand in a cast. Boston College also announced that Jurkovec could miss “the remainder of the year” due to the injury.
Jurkovec played lights out in BC’s season opener against Colgate. He went 16 for 24 for 303 yards and three touchdowns and had 61 rushing yards on five carries.
On Saturday against UMass, he went 3 of 4 for 22 yards before exiting the game with his injury. The Eagles went on to win the game over their in-state opponents 45-28 as Dennis Grosel took the reins.
Phil Jurkovec transferred to Boston College after two years buried on the depth chart at Notre Dame. He quickly proved to be an effective starter for the Eagles, completing 61-percent of his passes for 2,558 yards and 17 touchdowns in 10 games.
Fortunately for Jurkovec, he still has at least one year of college eligibility remaining after redshirting at Notre Dame in 2018.
As for Boston College, they have big games against Temple and Missouri coming up. Then they start their ACC slate with national powerhouse Clemson on the road.
The tests are going to come very early for the Eagles. Hopefully they’re ready for what they have in store.
