BC Interruption is looking for new staff writers! Applicants for this position should have a passion for Boston College sports and an interest in covering the football, men’s basketball, and/or women’s basketball teams.
This position will be responsible for providing team coverage throughout the year with the potential to focus in on an individual sport of your choosing. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Recruiting updates
- Gameday coverage (including medias credentials if desired)
- Post-game analysis
- Breaking news
- Opinion columns
- Social media engagement
We are more than willing to accept applicants who do not have any previous professional writing or blogging experience. There is plenty of room in this position for new creative ideas! Plus opportunities to write passionately about all of BC’s athletic programs. We would also love to bring a writer aboard who is active on social media and wants to increase BCI’s engagement on Instagram, X, or other platforms. This position is a great launch point if you’ve always wanted to bring your content creation passion to a larger audience.
This position does not require in-person attendance, but it does require the ability to access streams for the majority of games to provide live coverage for BC Interruption if not available in-person. Qualified applicants must also have an awareness of the major Boston College and NCAA basketball and football websites/social media accounts in order to be prepared to track breaking news and recruitment information.
Football and men’s basketball writers will join a small team who split coverage duties over the course of the season. We offer a lot of flexibility when it comes to personal scheduling conflicts and work as a team to cover all of the games and latest news. A new women’s basketball writer will take lead duties for covering the program, with assistance from the rest of the staff.
Compensation for this position is comprised of a small monthly stipend. Writers are also able to obtain media credentials through BC Interruption for games if desired.
To Apply: To apply for this position, please email Curtis at bcinterruption@gmail.com with a cover letter explaining your interest in the position, as well as a sports-focused writing sample. Your writing sample can be previous work or something you wrote specifically for this application.
