Boston College Football has seen plenty of roster moves in the past few weeks. From the Early Singing Period, to the transfer portal, to those entering the NFL Draft process. Here’s where things stand across the roster, ahead of some key events in the coming weeks.

Declared for Draft

  • DE Donovan Ezeiruaku —> Senior Bowl
  • OL Ozzy Trapilo —> Senior Bowl
  • DT Cam Horsley —> East-West Shrine Bowl
  • C Drew Kendall —> East-West Shrine Bowl
  • OL Jack Conley —> East-West Shrine Bowl
  • RB Treshaun Ward —> Tropical Bowl
  • TE Kamari Morales —> Tropical Bowl
  • DE Neto Okpala
  • RB Kye Robichaux

The All-American and Hendricks Award winner, Ezeiruaku is the star of the show and and already raising eyebrows on the first day of senior bowl practices. Trapilo joins his teammate and not off to a bad start either. Meanwhile the pair’s respective line-mates are headed to Thursday’s East-West Shrine Bowl all joined together on the West team. The Tropical Bowl took place on the 19th, where Morales and Ward were among a large group of players across FBS and Canadian colleges. Ward was a standout performer across the practices and game and met with 10 NFL teams.

Transfers In

  • QB Dylan Lonergan, R-Soph, Alabama
  • TE Ty Lockwood, R-Soph, Alabama
  • OL Amir Johnson, Soph, Merrimack
  • iOL Tommy Matheson, Sr, Princeton
  • WR Bryce Dopson, R-Soph, Kennesaw State
  • WR VJ Wilkins, Jr, Campbell
  • TE Zeke Moore, Soph, FAU
  • RB Vaughn Pemberton, R-JR, Ball State

The big names here are the Alabama duo, both of whom Bill O’Brien is familiar with from his time with the Crimson Tide. It’s important to make the QB room. While we expect Grayson James to be the leader of the clubhouse, Lonergan is here to compete along with Jacobe Robinson incoming freshman Shaker Reisig. Lonergan’s high school teammate receiver Bryce Dopson appears to be a new addition to the Eagles roster. VJ “Rocket” Wilkins was an FCS All-American with high-end speed. Turbo and Rocket on the same team? Sign me up. O’Brien spoke highly of Moore, a big F-Tight End he could even see playing in a fullback role. Matheson is one of a few Ivy Leaguers coming in who might have some pro-potential with another year in a new conference. He comes with the right surname (no relation) and could be a center replacement for Drew Kendall, while Johnson could play guard or tackle.

  • LB Favor Bate, Fr, Merrimack
  • DE Onye Nwosisi, Soph, Valparaiso
  • DL Michael Bumpus, R-Jr, Brown
  • DT Chuck Nnaeto, Jr, Elon
  • P Shamus Florio, Gr, Yale
  • LS Ben Mann, Gr, Yale

Fewer names arrive on the defensive front, but don’t let their previous schools fool you. O’Brien noted Nwosisi as having strong pass rushing qualities he’s looking for. Nnaeto is the song of a BC alum has a lot of strength, comparing favorably to senior Kwan Williams. And critically, the Yale special teams unit makes there way to Chestnut Hill to shore up a sore spot for the team.

Transfers Out

  • WR Jerand Bradley —> Kansas State
  • WR Jayden McGowan —> Charlotte
  • WR Montrell Wade
  • DB Cole Batson —> UC Davis
  • DB Ryan Turner —> Purdue
  • DB Kahlil Ali —> Delaware
  • DB Jalen Cheek —> UAB
  • DB Sione Hala —> Weber State
  • QB Thomas Castellanos —> FSU
  • OL Ilja Krajnovic
  • OL Nick Thomas
  • DE Regen Terry
  • DT Nigel Tate —> UAB

On the way out are a few guys from the defensive backfield. The biggest names out overall were also some of the newest interestingly. Bradley, McGowan, and Turner all just transferred into BC last year and were solid contributors. And of course, Castellanos is headed down to Florida State. A few folks are still looking to find a new home, but overall not too much beyond what is expected in college football churn.

Notable Returning

BC’s leading receiver Lewis Bond is coming back.

Next up for the Eagles of future and past, the East-West Shrine Bowl is today, followed by the Senior Bowl this Saturday, and National Signing Day on February 5th. Stay tuned for next month’s roundup.
