BoB gets the Eagles another weapon

On Tuesday afternoon, it was reported that Alabama tight end Ty Lockwood has signed with the Boston College football program.

Lockwood will be a redshirt sophomore in 2025 and is a former 4-star recruit out of Thompson’s Station, TN. The 6’5” tight end was a teammate of QB Dylan Lonergan at Alabama, who recently transferred to Boston College himself and posted on social media when Lockwood entered the transfer portal. These two clearly have a connection between them, and Bill O’Brien’s staff has brought them to the Heights together to revamp his passing offense.

Lockwood did not see much action in his two seasons at Alabama. In seven total appearances, he caught just one ball for five yards against Mercer. But his profile out of high school was certainly promising, showing off his skills as both a great blocking tight end and as a pass catcher. Expect Lockwood to be effective in the short and intermediate passing game, serving as a security blanket for his quarterback much like we saw with Hunter Long just a few years ago.

Welcome to the Heights, Ty!
