Of all the Boston Celtics’ remaining business for the 2021 NBA offseason, nothing looms larger than if — and for how much — the Celtics can re-sign veteran shooting guard Evan Fournier this offseason. Can Boston afford to match whatever external offers the St. Maurice native might get from other teams as an unrestricted free agent?
“I feel like he’s the first [domino] to fall,” relates Boston Sports Journal’s John Karalis on a recent episode of the NBA Boston Sports podcast “Celtics Talk” in conversation with host Chris Forsberg. “In looking at the options out there, Fournier is the best one because you have his Bird Rights.”
The two discuss how a Fournier free agency might go right, as well as taking a hard look at the ways the important order of business could go awry.
