The Boston Celtics went 4-1 over their Summer League skate, but who preformed the best?
Celtics Summer League action has come and gone so now it is time to award the four players I thought were the biggest winners from the five games.
Amari Williams

The 46th pick in this year’s draft played in 4 out of the 5 games, averaging 6.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. The counting stats may not say it, but Williams’ passing really jump off the screen when watching him play.

You can see he has really good feel for the game. This skip pass was one in particular that jumped out at me, but it was his ability to hit cutters that stood out the most.
He needs to finish better around the cup, shooting just 44.5%, which for a big man who doesn’t shoot threes is not very good and his rim protection has some developing to do. However, you can see Williams’ pathway to being a good NBA player through his vision.
Charles Bassey

For the three games he played, Charles Bassey was very simply the Summer Celtics’ best player.
He had to leave early due to a prior commitment, but he averaged 15.3 points and 11.0 rebounds per game and had all of Celtics Twitter clamoring for Boston to sign the 24-year-old big man.
His rebounding was what jump off of the page the most. Through the first 3 games, Bassey led all of Summer League in total rebounds (33) and offensive rebounds (15), according to Taylor Snow from Celtics.com, with his best game coming off of the bench with 22 points and 13 rebounds against the Knicks.
He dominated Summer League and could be a useful depth piece if the Celtics elect to sign Bassey to a thin center room.
Kendall Brown

Kendall Brown is the only player to make this list who played in all 5 games. His counting stats are not all that impressive due to the fact that he only played 15 minutes per game but he still really made his impact felt.
Averaging 8.6 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1 assist per game, Brown shot the ball really well at 69% from the floor. He only took one three pointer per game so you would have liked to seen him take more threes, but again he didn’t play a ton of minutes.
His athleticism and knack for the game are what really jumped out to me. Being a plus athlete who knows how to play is a guy who should be in the NBA. If it isn’t the Celtics, someone should give Brown a chance on at least a two-way contract.
Kenneth Lofton Jr.

If there is one over whelming takeaway from Summer League that I had, it is that Kenneth Lofton Jr., no relation to MLB Hall of Famer Kenneth Lofton, can score.
His ability to get to the basket due to his size and how he finishes at the rim show you why he is able to continue to get chances like these in Summer League. He won the MVP for the Chinese Basketball Association last season for a reason, averaging 25.2 points per game.
His Summer League numbers were not that impressive but 10.8 points and 5.8 rebounds on 48% from the field and 50% from three are good numbers that should earn Lofton a G-League chance if he wants one next season.
